Tourism is growing rapidly each year. From 2016-2017 international tourism grew over 1.3 billion (6.8%) (Eric Rosen, 2018). The two largest areas that grew were Africa with 9% and Europe with 8% (Eric Rosen, 2018). Europe received over half the world’s international tourism with arrivals of 671 million (Eric Rosen, 2018). Forty percent of international tourism spending came from Europe and global tourism spending has grown 5% globally (Eric Rosen, 2018).
The vacation packages that RCI and RCI Platinum can offer for vacations in the beach cities of Europe would be the best place to start. Spain has the highest travel and tourism ratings according to Statista (Statista, 2019). In Spain the two best cities would be Barcelona and San Sebastian. According to Travel and Leisure, they are rated in the top 17 beach locations for tourism in Europe (Travel and Leisure, 2019). For both the Love Home Swap programs and for RCI this would be the best area to start in. According to Travel and Leisure, Barcelona is the best beach city in Europe (Travel and Leisure, 2019). This is where Wyndham Destinations needs to begin its expansion. Europe is also on the rise in tourism spending (Statista, 2019). London is the leading European city in tourism nights spent (Statista, 2019). London would be a great place to potentially expand and call an international second home base.
